If you are tired of eating the same old chicken curry then you should make this Dhaniya Murgh Masala which is absolutely delicious and very easy to make. This is a mouthwatering Indian recipe that is basically made with coriander leaves (Dhaniya), curd, and some Indian spices and condiments. Dhaniya is the Hindi word for coriander and Murgh translates to chicken. This is a flavorful cuisine with a slightly sour flavor because of the curd, the Indian spices add magic to this recipe and dhaniya has a fresh aromatic taste which makes this delicacy a flavorful one!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken (with bones) – 1 kg
  • Yogurt (whisked) – 200 grams
  • Turmeric powder – 2 tsp
  • Salt – 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 2 tsp
  • Green chillies – 4-5
  • Oil – 5-6 tbsp

GREEN PASTE:

  • Onion (cubed) – 2 medium
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) – 40 grams
  • Green chillies – 10
  • Garlic (cloves) – 12-14
  • Ginger (chopped) – 2 inches

PREPARATION:

FOR THE GREEN PASTE :

  1. Peel the onions and cut them into cubes. Roughly chop the green chillies, ginger, garlic, and coriander leaves.
  2. Add all the above items into a mixer grinder and grind into a smooth paste.
  3. Whisk the yogurt nicely and set aside.
  4. Marinate the chicken with the green paste we had just made and mix the whisked yogurt with some salt and turmeric.
  5. Mix well and set it aside for at least 25-30 minutes.

PROCESS:

  1. Heat oil in a kadhai and add green chillies. Stir on low flame and add turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt, and coriander powder. Give a stir for 10-15 seconds.
  2. Now add the marinated chicken and give a mix. Fry on high flame for about 5 minutes until the chicken turns white and the oil starts to separate.
  3. Now cover and cook for around 20 minutes on low flame. Do it till the chicken is tender, the masala is nicely cooked and the oil separates.
  4. Now add the garam masala powder and give stir. Cover and cook for at least another 4-5 minutes.
  5. Garnish with some finely chopped coriander leaves and the Dhaniya Murgh Masala is ready to be served.
